2010 Reunion and Meeting Has Been Canceled

Salt Lake City, Utah

April 28 - May 1, 2010

PRA 2010 Reunion and Meeting Has Been Canceled - Updated February 1, 2010

We have canceled the PRA 2010 Reunion/Meeting and the Exhibit Booth at the NGS 2010 Family History Conference.

If any of you have already registered (and paid) for the NGS 2010 Family History Conference, you can cancel your registration but you’ll be charged an admin fee (I think it’s around $45).

I think we did the best we could by moving forward with what we all thought was a good idea but the reality is that once again a lack of participation by our Members and a conflict with our personal, family and professional needs, was too much for us to overcome.

Originally, the PRA 2010 Reunion/Meeting was to be held between April 28 and May 1, 2010 at the same time and location as the National Genealogical Society 2010 Family History Conference.

The original details for the Reunion/Meeting are listed below.

There is no host facility for the PRA Reunion/Meeting.  Please use the information provided by the National Genealogical Society 2010 Family History Conference to select your hotel and register.  The PRA has not yet selected a hotel for us to stay.  As soon as that decision has been made, we'll make the announcement and post the information here.

By having our 2010 reunion/meeting at the same time and location at NGS, there are many positive things for PRA Members.

  1. People who attend get “more bang for their buck” by attending two conference/meetings at the same time in the same location.
  2. We get to attend our own Board and Membership meetings.
  3. We get to attend a great national conference with all kinds of presentations, lectures and demonstrations as well as hundreds of exhibitors.  A major focus of the conference will be increasing research skills in foreign countries.
  4. We’ll be able to use the family history resources in Salt Lake City, Utah, which will provide a depth and breadth to our research. The Family History Library has an extensive collection of international records.
  5. We minimize the expenses for the PRA.

Exhibition Booth

The PRA will have it's own exhibition booth at the National Genealogical Society 2010 Family History Conference

With our own booth, we will meet lots of new people and have a great opportunity to promote the PRA and recruit new Members.

To do this successfully, we need ten (10) volunteers to help by working in our booth to be the PRA’s spokespersons and to promote our wonderful organization.

We’re allowed ten (10) volunteers to staff our booth at this time but it’s possible we can get a waiver for more after we see how many volunteers are willing to help.

If you’re interested in helping, please contact Gene Pennington or any Board Member or Officer.  Click here to view a list of Board Members and Officers and their e-mail addresses.

Check back often for more details.

Events

We are planning to have our Board and Membership meetings in the same facilities as the National Genealogical Society 2010 Family History Conference but we do not have the details worked out at this time. We're going to try and have both meetings on the same day in the morning or evening.  As we move forward with decisions, we'll make the announcement and post the information here.

There are no planned PRA programs at this time.  As we move forward with decisions, we'll make the announcement and post the information here.

Please visit the National Genealogical Society 2010 Family History Conference web page to learn what events, programs, lectures and special events they are planning.
