Research in England – Sir Isaac Pennington – Project Funded

A Special Research Project to confirm the birth dates and location for Sir Isaac Pennington, his spouse and his children and to provide copies of the sources has been approved by the Board of Directors.

The Pennington Research Association (PRA) Board of Directors has approved funding for a research project in England. A PRA Member will manage the research in England and work directly with both professional and non-professional genealogists to conduct research in England.

We will seek interested genealogists (professional and non-professional) to submit their proposal to us so we can evaluate and select a genealogist to conduct the research for the PRA.

The primary goal of this research project is to confirm birth dates and location for Sir Isaac Pennington, reportedly born 1587, London, England, married 7 February, 1614/15, died 17 December 1661, Tower of London, London, England, spouse Abigail Allen, no further information and to confirm birth dates and location for his spouse and children.

The objectives of the research project are:

1. Locate and copy documentation/evidence/sources that will confirm the birth and death dates and locations for Sir Isaac Pennington, reportedly born 1587, London, England, died 17 December 1661, Tower of London, London, England.

2. Locate and copy documentation/evidence/sources that will confirm the marriage dates and locations for all of the spouses of Sir Isaac Pennington, reportedly born 1587, London, England, died 17 December 1661, Tower of London, London, England. We have information that one of his spouses is Abigail Allen, unknown birth or death date or locations for these events.

3. Locate and copy documentation/evidence/sources that will confirm the birth and death dates and locations for the children of Sir Isaac Pennington, reportedly born 1587, London, England, married 7 February, 1614/15, died 17 December 1661, Tower of London, London, England, spouse was Abigail Allen, unknown birth or death date.

PRA 2012 Board of Directors Ballot Has Been Sent

It’s off! I just sent the PRA 2012 Board of Directors Ballot via our website’s e-mail “blast” program to all but 7 PRA Members (ones who do not have e-mail).

The results will be accumulated and Marsha Hanson-Smith has agreed to monitor the results and tabulate the final votes. If any printed ballots are used, they are mailed to Betsy VanAuker who will let Marsha know the results so they can be added to the electronic ones.

If any PRA Member does not receive the message from the PRA with the information and ballot, please let me know and I'll send you one by e-mail.

The deadline for ballots to be received in 12/10/12.

My name is Barbara Pennington. My Father is Glover Franklin Pennington, Jr 1924-1968. My line starts with Thomas Pennington, Sr, 1760-1825

I live in Florence Alabama, one of the most beautiful areas in Northwest Alabama. The Tennessee River travels though our cities, made up of Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Muscle Shoals, and Florence. With the river close, you can only imagine the scenic views that can be enjoined daily. There is something about being near water that brings a peacefulness to my soul. I thank God everyday that I was born and raised in such a beautiful part of our country!

Last month I was asked to be Group Leader 29 and I accepted that role. Being a young genealogist, starting in 2009, I have learned many things about researching my family by reading and talking to others more experienced. I will call one some of you to help me learn even more. My Aunt Lurene (Pennington) Johnson was a member years ago and she is the reason I joined the PRA. While looking at a Blog, about tree years ago, I noticed a comment someone made about the PRA. Instantly, my interest peaked! I went to the PRA website and joined. It is intresting, talking with some of the members in Group 29 how many similar interests we have. I already know my journey with PRA will be a heartfelt one, getting to know each of you.

Now that a few weddings are behind me, I can concentrate on getting myself busy with our line of family. My hope is that as a group we can bring our line into the future and fill in some blanks on past family members that need to be researched more throughly.

I have started a website for Group 29, suggested by Gene. The name of the tree is , Thomas Pennington, Sr abt 1760 Rowan NC USA, by Barbara Pennington http://group29tree.tribalpages.com is the address. The tree is private, and can be viewed by invitation, let me know if you would like to have a look.

I would like to thank Joanne Pennington for all her years of being leader of Group 29 and Gene for all his support and suggestions. Also, my Aunt Lurene for 'planting the seed' of interest in the PRA!
